Premium cycling apparel brand Le Col has only been on crowdfunding site Crowdcube for two weeks but has already raised over £430,000. The rapid response comes from over 50 investors who have recognised the rare opportunity to buy into an established brand within one of the world’s fastest growing sports.
Le Col was founded in 2009 by former GB cyclist Yanto Barker. Yanto retired this season after an enormously successful cycling career which included finishing as the highest placed Briton in the 2005 Tour of Britain. He is now fully focused on building on the early success of Le Col.
The Crowdcube campaign has some very exciting incentives for investors including a ride-out with Yanto himself.
Le Col launched the ongoing crowdfunding campaign in a bid to raise a total of £1million, which will be invested in raising brand awareness, expansion into new markets, and hiring more personnel.
The impressive investment in Le Col is evidence of the growing success story of the cycling industry as it continues to grow exponentially.
Le Col founder and former professional GB cyclist Yanto Barker added “Le Col is more than a great investment opportunity. It’s a chance for people to own the lifestyle and buy into an ethos of quality, authenticity and dedication. You can be part of an organisation delivering the most premium, state of the art cycling apparel on the market.”
Since inception in 2009, through organic growth and acquisition of its own factory, Le Col now sells its Italian hand-crafted cycling apparel in 10 countries, generating revenue of just under £1m from its operations in the UK, Italy, and USA. It is hoped that this crowdfunding round will help to propel the business to the next level.
